Measure useful enquiries before chasing a larger traffic number

Connect website measurement to the enquiries your Australian business can actually serve.

A traffic increase can look encouraging while the office receives the wrong kind of work. Before commissioning more content or advertising, define a useful enquiry for your business.

For a service company, it might mean a customer inside the coverage area asking for work you offer. For a specialist supplier, it might mean an appropriate trade account requesting the right product category. Keep that definition specific enough for staff to recognise.

Follow the handover

Test the enquiry route from a phone through to the person who responds. Confirm the page, service interest and message arrive where expected. A button click is useful diagnostic information, but it is not the same as a received enquiry or a sale.

Google Analytics' event guidance explains the concept of recording actions and marking business-important actions as key events. Your implementation should distinguish attempted actions from completed ones.

Read small numbers carefully

A handful of enquiries can change sharply from week to week. Record the period, any campaign changes and whether staff handled requests consistently. Avoid treating one quiet week as proof that a page has no value.

Ask staff to note simple reasons for poor fit, such as outside service area or unsupported work. Keep those categories useful and avoid copying unnecessary personal details into a marketing report.

Choose the next improvement

If visitors choose the wrong service, improve the page explanation. If good enquiries are not answered, fix the follow-up. If the customer cannot submit on a phone, repair the form before sending more traffic to it.

Faith Forge Labs can include a practical measurement plan in search and content work. We report what has been checked and what remains uncertain; a functioning website does not guarantee rankings, enquiries or revenue.
